I work from a fascination with the human being and what it means to be human in a constantly changing world.
I am drawn to sculpture because of its physical presence. A sculpture occupies space and asks us to look at it in a different way. In my work, I explore the tension between the figurative and the abstract, between what is visible and what remains hidden. Transparency and layers play an important role in this.
My work often explores identity and the way we present ourselves. What do we show, and what do we keep hidden? The influence of social media, the pressure it creates, and its impact on our mental well-being are subjects that concern me. I am also interested in the growing hardness and intolerance I see in society.
